Job DescriptionThe American Psychotherapy Association and the American Association of Integrative Medicine are seeking an editor to work at their Springfield, Mo. headquarters.
Job Responsibilities- Overseeing all aspects of production for an 80+ page, quarterly, professional peer-reviewed journal
- Building author recruitment and maintaining relationships with existing authors
- Editing publication content
- Working with art director to design publications
- Meeting publication deadlines
- Researching and developing of online venues
- Developing content and voice for a new newsletter about integrative medicine
- Assist with copyediting two other 80+ page, quarterly, peer-reviewed journals
- Copyediting various association marketing materials
- Increasing publication advertising revenue by 15% per year
- Edit publications, brochures and mailings
- Monitor progress on all aspects of publication process
Job QualificationsBachelor's degree in Professional/Technical Writing, Journalism, or a related field
Excellent written and oral communication are essential; interviewees will be tested
- Editing experience; knowledge of standard copyediting markup; interviewees will be tested
- Knowledge of Chicago Manual and American Psychological Association styles
- Attention to minute details
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe InCopy, and willingness to learn additional applications as needed
